About Kara Jade

Kara Jade Quan-Montgomery was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California. As a small child she loved the sound of gravel beneath her feet and she hasn’t turned back ever since. Her interest in photography began in high school and coalesced into a great passion as she reached college.

At University of California at Berkeley, Kara had the opportunity to travel to many places on Earth Science excursions, learning about the formation of the beautiful landscapes she would capture with her camera. Deemed the official photographer of the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences and of the Geological Association at Berkeley (GAB) student club, Kara documented departmental events and field trips for annual alumni reviews.

Her photographic drive was fueled by the trips she would take with her mother in the vacation time. Kara graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology in 2010. Currently Kara is employed as a geologist for Terraphase Engineering, Inc., an environmental consulting firm located in Oakland, California.
